I will be arriving for one day from a small crew ship at Port Vendres. I know we want to see Collioures. For our 8 hour stay how do you recommend getting around to see the most?
The historic area of Collioure is quite compact, so can be seen on foot. We were recently staying in PV and took a local train to Collioure. 5 minutes? You can easily walk from the station into the old town. I'm not sure about getting from anywhere a ship would dock to the station in PV.
Assuming you dock at the Gare Maritime, looks like about 3/4 mile walk to the train station, the last part up hill.
You can check the train schedule at www.bahn.com. Looks like at least a train every 2 hours with more in the morning and late afternoon. Its only a 3 minute ride.
It's a very small place...we spent an afternoon there and saw pretty much everything! No need to do anything but walk...
I enjoyed my stay in Collioure and used it as a base to explore the area. The town is very compact.

Thank you so much.I'm choosing between going ourselves to Collioure or taking the shore excursions with guides to either there or Perpignan. Any thoughts? Again, we are in port at Port Vendres for the day.
I usually stay clear of little tourist train rides but ‘Le Petit Train’ in Collioure is very different, it goes around town and then up into the hills above the town, thru the vineyards and you get some great views back towards the town and ends up in Port Vendres before returning.
