Cointreau Distillery in Angers

Has anybody visited the Cointreau Distillery in Angers? I have checked online reviews, but I like to hear from the folks on this forum. There is no need to point out that I can't visit now, or that there is no way to tell how future visits will differ from those in the past.

EP, what a great idea. I can’t comment on the distillery because I haven’t been there. But I started doing research for a visit to le Cadre Noir in Saumur and found what looks like a very interesting B&B in Angers so thought I'd share that with you: https://loisellerie.com/
I hope you (and all of us) are able to travel soon.

Thanks HW. I've also been looking at the Cadre Noir and Saumur in general. That does look like an interesting B&B.

I have visited Cointreau in Angers, Bénédictine in Fécamp, and Hennessy in Cognac. All are interesting and there is something to be learned with each visit.

Hi, I was in Angers last September. I didn’t tour the distillery, but if you’re in Angers, be sure to also go into the Angers Castle which contains the amazing Revelation Apocalypse tapestry. The castle was fascinating - I spent half a day just exploring it and having lunch there.

I really enjoyed Angers and hope to return!

Chiming in after adding to your other thread - not to sound like the Saumur tourism board, but if you end up going there, they have the Combier distillery, which also produces triple sec. I haven't done that tour, just a variety of the caves where various sparkling wines are made, but have heard good things.

For Angers, I stayed at Hotel Continental which is located behind the Opera House on Place du Ralliement square – a very handy location since the tram from the train station stops at the square. This hotel is a no frills but perfectly adequate hotel. I balance lodging costs over the three weeks to focus on a few spectacular places at higher cost and then some more budget ones. This was in the more budget category, but I did really like their location.

Angers has a young vibe and Parisian architecture. I really enjoyed walking around town and being at the Place du Ralliment in the evening and could picture it as a possible city if returning again for several days.

Amy - Yes, we are planning visiting the Combier Distillery as well!

And thank you Jean for that information.

I will probably send you both PM's in the hopefully not too distant future to pick your brains some more!
