Cobblestone paris

This company was recommended on this site. I inquired about a particular appartment on the Ile St. Louis three times last week through tripadvisor and received a canned response that someone would "contact me soon". A week later I'm still waiting. Tripadvisor showed the apartment was available and then I went directly to their website (when they never responded) and it showed it was booked. You'd think with a positive endorsement by Rick Steves they would follow up on inquiries.

If it was recommended by a responder on these forums, it was an individual with no connection whatsoever to Rick Steves or his business and RS have no responsibility for anything we post. If you found the recommendation in an RS book or on some part of the RS website that is written by an RS employee, then you should use the contact link below - and be sure to let them know where you read the recommendation.

The month of May includes several holidays - many people take 3 or 4-day long weekends throughout the month. I'm not making excuses for this company, but just explaining why this agency might not have contacted you. It's probable that there were earlier inquiries for your dates, and that's why the apartment now shows as booked.

You could try vacationsinparis.com I looked through both the Cobblestone properties and the Vacations in Paris properties before choosing one from VIP. I found their prices to be more reasonable, overall. They were extremely responsive on customer service, the property was exactly as promised and described and they returned the security deposit promptly.

Cobblestone is in his book so I think that counts as his endorsement.

I have used Vacation in Paris and second the observations above. Very good to work with.

I have used Cobblestone twice and would use them again. They have always been responsive and easy to work with. I think the problem is going through TA rather than their website. It is always best to go direct rather than through a third party.

I too have had no issues with them. I hear back from them usually within 24 - 48 hours through email. Questions have been answered and have had correspondence with Lauren who will be meeting me at the apartment for my trip at the end of the month.

We booked an apt through Cobblestone for 2 weeks beginning next week. We have received quick personal responses from Cobblestone all along the way including speedy answers to questions we have had. Our communications with our Cobblestone greeter in Paris have likewise been quick and very informative. We did book directly on Cobblestone's web site following RS recommendation.

Is your post a warning? A statement? A complaint? Are you expecting resolution?

I ask solely because this is your only post on the Forum.

Using TA was a mistake. ALWAYS book your accommodation directly!

At anytime during the week that you waited for a reply did you re email them or investigate other apartment rental options?

I ask solely because this is your only post on the Forum.

I also agree that using TA was a mistake. ALWAYS book directly.

We used Cobblestone back in October of last year, and would do so again in a heartbeat. They were great to work with, so I don't know why you may have had issues - we stayed on Ile St. Louis.

Our experience with European rentals is that they are quick to response when they have vacancies and slow (and sometimes never) to respond when full. If we don't hear within 48 hours, our practice is to move on to something else assuming that the property is not available. And we always contact directly to the property using their web site.
