I'm trying to book an apartment on https://cobblestoneparis.com/ with my AMEX card and it keeps saying there is a credit card failure. Is this site still operational? I put in a question on the site itself but have not heard any response. Are these apartments only available now through VRBO?

AMEX is often not accepted. Try a visa card.

Since the failure occurred at the payment stage, my guess is that AmEx declined it. I have had that experience with large foreign charges on my AmEx, as recently as last week, when I booked a hotel in Japan. AmEx immediately sent a text asking if the charge was genuine and when I answered “yes” they said to submit the charge agin and it would be approved. I did Re-submit the payment on the hotel website and it went through.
If you did not get a text or email asking you to confirm the charge you may need to contact AmEx for help.

Thanks Lola. It turns out the charge wasn't even going through to AMEX so I switched and got the reservation using VISA.
