Their website has said "Spring 2022" for a couple of years and I'd hoped it would be Early Spring! Oh well...will catch it next trip!

Thanks for posting. I had been monitoring this periodically. I am traveling in June, so it works well for me. Hopefully you can catch the museum on another trip soon.

Pam,
I love the Cluny Museum, I spent a couple hours there in my 3 pre tour days on my own. I picked up a flyer advertising a small a cappella choral concert for that evening and returned later for a lovely musical experience! All in French, no matter, the acoustics were marvelous and I enjoyed myself so much. RS Paris and the Heart of France in 2014 was my first tour and I was proud of myself for spending 3 days on my own in Paris, no less!

I hope to return to Paris soon.

I’m sorry it won’t reopen until after you will be there but you have the right attitude, “maybe next year”.

SCFamily - Oh yes, I WILL see it another time! I love the Lady and the Unicorn tapestries as well as the original heads that were lopped off the statues donning the front of Notre Dame.

Judy - I'll bet that was wonderful! Did they have the concert in the area of the old Roman baths?

Tammy - There is so much else to see you won't miss it THIS trip, lol!

Thanks Pam! Cluny Museum has been on my “must see” list for September since I started planning a year ago.

Pam,
Yes, the concert was in the old Roman baths and the sound was warm so that I felt surrounded by it.

I will visit the Cluny again next time I’m in Paris, I want to buy a poster of the Lady and the Unicorn Tapestries! I regret I didn’t buy one in 2014. I even went online to their shop to buy one but they weren’t on it. I just have to return!
Refresh my memory, Pam, are you on your own in Paris or on a tour? Or in between tours?

I would like to add to the conversation of The Cluny Unicorn Tapestries. There is another set of similar tapestries , " The Hunt of the Unicorn " that is in the MET collection , here in New York ( The Cloisters ) An interesting story behind them , and worth a visit if you come to New York , They were copied some years ago , in the UK , and hang in Stirling Castle in Scotland . I first saw the Scottish version in 2010 , and again at their completion in 2014 ,. here is an article that explains the tale in depth , and a video about the Scottish recreation . I hope you will enjoy this ! - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hunt_of_the_Unicorn the video - https://youtu.be/cBO9DmySARM

And if you are a Harry Potter movie fan, the Gryffindor Common Room has the Lady and the Unicorn tapestries (or a close approximation of them) on the walls. :)

The Cluny Museum is lovely, and never seems crowded.

Has anyone tried to purchase tickets for the Cluny Museum (re-opening May 12, 2022) on the museum's website? The only ticketing link from the museum's home page seems to be a tiny ticket icon at the bottom of the page. That link takes you to a page where you can enter your account information (cell number and password). but I don't have an account, and can't figure out how to establish one. What am I missing?

Judy - I will be on my own in Paris, then head to Belgium to pick up a Road Scholar tour

Steven - That is very interesting! I had not heard of them, I don't think!

SJ - I didn't know that either and I've seen the movies a dozen times at least.

RickS - Hopefully someone else will have tried. Maybe try again closer to the time if no one has an answer.

FWIW, Rick has been doing "best of" type recuts and he has a mashup of Paris museums, including a long bit on that lady and her darn unicorns with all the double-entendres

An update: museum has a chat bot. It doesn’t work in English, only French. But I could highlight the chat’s responses (it is a very wordy chatty bot!) and Apple will translate the highlighted text. In that way we learned that on line ticket sales are not yet available ( as of March 23, 2022) but will be up and running soon. Ladies and unicorns, here we come!
