Versailles website says several rooms in queens chambers closed for repair/renovation as of January 2016. A different, but also official looking website does not mention it. We're planning to visit this wk. anyone know the status? Thanks
I would have to think that the official website would be the best place for current - and correct information.
I agree with Parisonadime.
You can read about the modified tour on the official website, under news :http://en.chateauversailles.fr/news-/events/autres-evenements/travaux-du-grand-appartement-de-la-reine-en
They were definitely closed in June.
Partial closures are completely normal all over Europe. Something is always being renovated. Don't be surprised, or disappointed, when you run into them.
Was just there August 6th, and the entire queens apartment area is still closed off. Bummer. I got the impression it's going to be closed for a few more months as well. The Petite Trianon and the hamlet will give you a good consolation prize.
Ah! Wish I had seen this before today! Sure enough, we were in the hall of mirrors this morning listening to the RS App and got VERY turned around when nothing matched. I'm bumping this thread in case anyone else is going to experience the same confusion! (Don't waste your time back tracking and looking for the wrong turn like we did! HA!)
