Clearing Immigration at CDG; How Much Time?

Hello,

Our flight into CDG is scheduled to arrive around 08:15am on Monday, June 3rd, and we would like to be able to take a TGV InOui train from CDG-T2 to Saint-Perrie-Des-Corps. The best departure i see for our proposed itinerary leaves at 11:19am.
Knowing that it will likely take at least 45 minutes to deplane after touchdown, find the appropriate baggage carousel and wait for our luggage, navigate to the immigration area and then wait our turn to be admitted.

Might we reasonably expect to clear immigration with enough time to find the train station and locate the platform for our train?

It is our intention to purchase our train tickets in advance to eliminate the need to stand in line thus saving a bit of time.

Any advice or suggestions are appreciated.

Assuming no delays I think you have time but you are not building in a lot of time for delays. The last time I went through Charleston immigration took me about an hour but of course the baggage was waiting on me and customs is a walk-through.

You actually have the cycle backwards you go through immigration then you pick up your luggage

3 hours is the rule of thumb for a train from CDG -- so you should be okay barring a very late plane.

It took us 2 hours through immigration last spring which was unusual -- generally we are at the cab line in about an hour.
It took us 45 minutes this fall but the plane itself was two hours late, so we probably would have missed a train that time.

There is always a risk in booking on ward transport the day of arrival but with 3 hours you will normally make it.

As long as the flight arrives on time at 8:15 I believe that this a enough to catch a train departing at 11:19.
Just buy a ticket that is flexible, refundable if you miss the train or have money in your budget to buy another train ticket

Thank You Carol, I was not entirely clear on the "cycle" upon arrival.
We're not at all familiar with the airport layout, so a couple of additional questions, if I may.

Does it take long to walk from the arrival gates to the immigration control?

Secondly, how far, or how much time might it take, to go from baggage claim to the train platforms?

Thank You!

"Does it take long to walk from the arrival gates to the immigration control?"

What airline? There are different terminals at CDG. My flights from Seattle usually land at 2E. The last 3 times the plane has parked at one of the tarmac gates so you offload down the stairs to the tarmac and load onto a waiting shuttle bus for transport to the doors to Immigration. In that event I've not actually had to walk more than about 50'.

Your tickets will likely be much cheaper if you buy ahead but as people indicate you may wind up not being able to use them. I'd have them covered under your trip insurance or just be ready to bite the bullet if needed.

Do try to sit as far forward as you can so you deplane faster.

Thank You Janet & Jazz

Obviously, we're hoping for no flight delays, and we undestand the risk of pre-purchasing train tickets. We will certainly consider "flexible" ticketing. (I have a question on that as well, but I'll ask in another thread)

Our arrival time in Saint-Perrie-Des-Corps is the key to us choosing the 11:19 departure time from CDG, as we have a scheduled rental car pick up around 2:00pm. The next departure from CDG would not get us to S-P-D-C until minutes after the rental car company closes.

Thank Pam....Our flight is on Delta. My understanding is we arrive at Terminal 2?
