We will be driving from Rouen to bayeaux and would like to stop to see French countryside. Suggestions for cider mills and charming turns along the way!

I can definitely recommend visiting a cheese factory! We went to this one and loved it.

On the way back to Bayeux, we also
saw many signs advertising farm made cider and Calvados. Keep in mind that these places are really out in the country. We decided to follow one of the handwritten signs nailed to a pole, which led us down a back country lane. Just as we were about to give up, there was another sign pointing to a gravel path by an apple orchard. Ok, in for a penny, in for a pound, so we wound up the path to a large, really old farmhouse. Inside we were warmly welcomed to the dusty shelves by an old gentleman who brought out glasses and gave us a real education on cider and Calvados. We bought several bottles and drank most of it before we returned home. The whole day was one of our most delightful experiences of the trip.

The point of this is that Normandy is a place to wander off the highway and experience the cheese, cream, cider, and Calvados culture of this beautiful area. You will probably get lost, but you won't regret it!

It takes research, but there are some rural estate gardens open to the public.
