Hi, we will be in Paris from Monday, Dec 22 through Dec. 26. This is our second visit, so we have seen The Obligatories. What would you consider the best ways to use our time, especially on Christmas Day. I have already booked a luncheon cruise on 12/24 and a dinner cruise on 12/25. I'd like to visit fabric stores again. We'd like to do Midnight Mass at Notre Dame and have booked a hotel within walking distance. This will be the last part of a trip that includes Christmas markets on the Rhine. Thoughts welcome.
Fabric stores, eh? Are you familiar with Dam Boutons, 46 Rue d’Orsel? Incredible selection of buttons and other accessories.
We enjoyed the Jacquemart-Andre Museum and the Georges de La Tour exhibit. It is open Christmas Day. It also has a tearoom that many enjoy even though I have not been. I'm unsure the tearoom is open that day, however. It is a distance from the Notre Dame area, but if you were to go, Parc Monceau is a short walk from the museum and is lovely.
Do you leave the 26th or is your last day the 26th? The Festival du Merveilleux at the Musée des Arts Forains puts on the festival starting then.
Hi, Yes, I have been to Dam Boutons and other fabric stores in that area. Greatly appreciate the tip about Musee Jacquesmart - we have reserved tickets. We actually leave on the 28th, but already have a full day booked on the 27th. Many thanks for the fabulous ideas. Much appreciated!
eam8336,
I haven't been to Notre Dame since it reopened, but I would imagine that Midnight Mass would be particularly crowded this year, and would arrive well ahead of time to ensure entry and a seat. Maybe watch the website for Notre Dame ad the time approaches to see what they say. I am sure there is a limit on the number of people (safety, space, fire regs, etc.)
"as" not "ad"
For a similar price to the dinner cruise, you could do Bustronome. I'm a huge fan. We did it for dinner on Xmas Eve and really enjoyed seeing the city from above street level. They necessarily drive very slowly, and the food is better than you might expect.
I just read about a classical music concert held in the Eiffel Tower on Dec 24th and 25. Look for Theater in Paris online. Their website is in either French or English. Looks like the concert is just an hour.
We booked tickets to Vivaldi's The Four Seasons at La Madeleine on Dec 26th - https://www.classictic.com/en/city/paris-t7/les-violons-de-france-vivaldis-the-four-seasons-at-la-madeleine/14796/?e=1794564&amount=1&category=671346
