Christmas Markets / Wine Tours in Colmar/Strasburg area

We will be [tentatively] spending three nights in Strasburg in early December, without a car. We are coming from Basel, which is a fairly quick train ride. I would like to do a wine/Christmas markets tour out of Strasburg for a day, to the smaller villages. I have seen recommendations for Ophorus Tours. Any other tour company recommendations? Do these tours typically give enough time in Colmar, or should we just spend a day in Colmar on our own?
Will basically 2.5 days be sufficient time for this area?
Thanks so much. I have really used the helpful info you all have so generously shared in the past.

We arranged a tour with Marc at VinoRoute ([email protected] or www.vinoroute.fr). The tour was brilliant. We went to Colmar, Riquewihr and Obernai.

We've been to Strasbourg multiple times and really enjoyed it at the holiday time. Two hotels we've had great experiences with are the Hôtel Gutenberg and the Hôtel Cathédrale.

Thx.
Hotel Cathedrale is already booked for our dates; I'll try your other option tomorrow, and look at the wine tours.
I appreciate your help!

Hi, I was in Strasbourg same time last December. There are lots of decent hotels near the train station and close to the old section where the markets are located. We rented a car and then stayed for 2 nights in Ribeauville and 1 night in Eguisheim. We really liked the freedom to explore that the car allowed. We also particularly liked the small villages at night. Markets do not, however, take place daily in the small villages. You can go on-line to find a schedule of the 2019 events in Alsace. We felt one day was enough for both Colmar and Strasbourg markets. Why pay for a tour and be confined to their schedule?

We use Ophorus for a wine tasting tour out of Colmar. We don't usually like group tours but it was very small (I think 4 others besides us and the driver), and the driver was very knowledgeable, a history major who knew far more than just a brochure spiel. Their reviews are always very positive.

ETA: We had rented a car but didn't want to be a position of drinking and driving. We went back on our own the next day to places where we wanted to spend more time, sans wine.
