A very fun idea but I imagine that shipping is expensive.

However, this is a good reminder that there are many museums in the U.S. that have wonderful gift shops.

An online source for gift shopping and helpful to struggling museum shops.

Thanks steven!

I like to use La Boutique des Musées de France. Shopping is pricey but I have used them a lot to get posters for my classroom as well as calendars and some things for my home.

I love to stop at Museum shops to pick up unique gifts to tuck in my suitcase. A few items caught my eye in the article. I like the colorful De Stijl stacking mugs. I have purchased Loqi Tote Bags that represent some of my favorite artists. Well made & beautiful. I bought the featured Alessi Tea Spoon in a kitchen shop in Taormina, Sicily. It’s like a piece of art. Exquisite.

Steven, thanks for sharing.

Thanks a million Rick and your team for posting my New York Times story on the best way in the world to do all your holiday shopping! It's also the best way to get close to Paris these days. Warm wishes, Elaine Sciolino

Well Steve, that's two for two. I hope sometime Ms. Sciolino finds out that it's you, a die-in-the-wool New Yorker, musician, traveler, connaisseur of art, who is posting her pieces.

And don't forget that shops like Shakespeare & Company are hurting, so they've got tons of books & branded merchandise to buy (i ordered a simple bag, took less than a month to get here w standard shipping)

My mom used to buy gifts from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They have high quality, beautiful things.
The gift shop at the Legion of Honor and the deYoung Museum in SF are not good quality, mostly junky stuff made in China.
I always buy lots at the Louvre Museum when i’m in Paris. I have some really nice pieces of jewelry from there that i love.
