Choosing a hotel location in Paris

Have two hotels picked out, any thoughts on the better area to stay?
- addresses are:
70 Avenue des Champs-Elysees (8th area?)
Or 4, Rue du Mont Thabor above the tuileries Garden (1st area?)

If noise bothers you, the hotel on Champs-Elysees may be quite noisy since there's LOTS of traffic on the street. Plus that's a very commercial area (not my preference). The one on rue du Mont Thabor should be much quieter since it's on a small side street. Also, it's close to several Metro stations, the Tuileries, the Seine, etc. This would be my personal choice, but my preferences may not be yours.

The Mont Thabor is definitely much better located for sightseeing. For instance, it's a 10-minute walk to Louvre (the address in the 8th is a 25-minute walk in the opposite direction). No contest.

Champs area is NOT central.. people are drawn to it because they have seen more pictures of it..

Stay in 4th 5th 6th or the one in the 1st.. skip that Champs.. boring area ,, unless you like chain shops and cafes with 5 euro cokes for sale.. lol

I really appreciate everyone's insight! We have a third option to stay which is the Boulevard Haussmann on the edge of the 2nd and the 9th but that seems to be going away from the preferred areas to stay from these replies. Thanks again.

Not sure why you are being so secretive.. these type of posts are so much easier when someone just says "which hotel ( insert names) is in better location" ..

An area has quieter and busier streets.. so while staying "in the such and such area " seems to narrow it down to you.. what you may be missing is being told something like "there is major road work in that area right now" or " theres a great street market in that area across the street " so that giving a specific location will make easier to be helpful.

Who's being secretive? The addresses are above with the exception of the third hotel. We haven't been to Paris before so I'm not an expert on what's more helpful in terms of specifics. That's why I'm here :) They're all Marriott hotels. Anyway, I think we've figured it out. Thanks again to all who were helpful.
