choice of bed: 1 full or 2 twin?

Hello,
We're going to Aix-en-Provence. I'm trying to reserve a room with 2 beds on booking.com. I see some aparthotels with room descriptions stating: "choice of bed: 1 full bed or 2 twin beds". But it's not possible to actually select the bed type on the page. What does this mean? Is it two twins pushed together to form a full bed, and we can split them apart if we want? Or do we have to wait for check-in and hope that they will have rooms with two twins left?

Thanks!

Sometimes you can select the bed when you actually are reserving the room, on the page just before paying. And sometimes there’s a space for special requests.

I think I’d call or email before booking, to make sure.

If you go to the actual website of the hotel, you may get clarification. I use booking to find the hotel I want, and then go to the hotel's website and book direct.

My parents prefer twin beds, and in the past when they were still travelling to Europe, we'd just email the hotel and request the twin beds.

It was never a problem, but well worth requesting it in advance.

Always book directly, things are much easier.

Yes, usually the beds are two twins - either set up as singles, or pushed together to make a double. Just let them know which way you would like them to be set up.

If the booking page does not allow you to select the bed type, there will be a box further on the reservation page to ask for any special requests. Just put that you want the room set up with 2 twin beds. Worst case scenario you arrive and need to ask the hotel staff to separate the beds (easily done).

Many thanks for the information and advice. After a bit more research, we may go to Arles instead of Aix. Arles seems to be more affordable with more accommodation choices, at least in early June.

A standard double is 140cm. a 'queen'. 160. and a 'king' 180. If we can not get the measurement of a full bed, we book twins -- in many rural hotels the double bed is very small -- sometimes even smaller than 140 -- In cities they usually put two singles together for a full bed and that is fine -- but if you are not sure twins are a safer bet if you are not willing to be jammed into a tiny bed.

In my opinion, Booking.com should only be used for research

You should then go book directly on the hotel website

There are a couple of reasons. One I think Booking.com is about the most compromised booking engine out there and they seem to be in denial about it. there’s way too many people reporting way too many bizarre things for me to believe that its a coincidence as someone who works in the cybersecurity space

Secondly. You’re much more likely to get a good description of the room you actually are booking on the hotels website,
