I am spending a week in Paris next May. I have been there many times. I am thinking of taking 2 days and training it down to Chenonceau. I've seen the chateau before, but as I recall, I thought the town itself also might be fun to poke around in. I have found a hotel close to the chateau. Has anyone spent any time in the town? How far is the train station from the chateau? Or is this a waste of 2 days?
I biked from Amboise to Chenonceau. I wasn't really looking but I didn't see anything particularly special about the town.
google street view it. I find street view to be the most underrated travel planning tool available.

I've been to the chateau several times, and I don't recall the town being overly interesting. Not horrible, just nothing special.
OK Thanks. I think I will re-evaluate.
we stayed nearby in a little town named Franquile. the town of chenonceau was small and difficult to navigate besides having a car. the train station we took from Paris ended in Tours. right at the train station there is a car rental place.about 5 miles away is a hotel which looks like a fairytale Castle itself.if you are interested in more info you can send me a message.
Chenonceaux the city is not worth any special visit. It's right next to the chateau and it can be done in 15 minutes. There's a few luxury/ spa hotels and there is a really cool "laverie" where you can see how people used to wash their clothes. We didn't see anything else worth looking at.
I think you may be confused. The village of Chenonceaux is really nothing special. Perhaps you were thinking of Amboise, which is the closest big town to the Chenonceau chateau and has several interesting sights, including its own chateau plus the last home of Leonardo da Vinci.
