No 5 Metro 2 stops to Gare d'Austerlitz, then RER C to Versailles Rive Gauche. Watch the monitors at the RER platform to make sure you get on the right train.

And if visiting the Chateau get the train that gets you there at least half an hour before the chateau opens as the security lines are crazy later in the day.

One other tip - the RER train to Versailles has the word "Vick" above the driver's window.
