Looking to visit some chateaus in france while on a train trip thru France from the south in Aix en Provence north thru Lyon, Colmar, Strasbourg, Reims, and end in Paris. Appreciate any suggestions.
For me, the top of the top were Chambord and Chenonceau - don't miss these two. After that it gets a little harder to pick...but we liked Cheverny.
David, your suggestions seem a bit off the path dmray has indicated. Perhaps the châteaux of Bourgogne might be a better fit. They're west of the Colmar-Strasbourg part of the trip, but perhaps some of the more southern ones would be convenient.
Ah, missed that. Must get more sleep...
It would help if you let us know not just the train route, but how many days you have and how far off the main rail line you're willing to detour. As you probably already know, your route is way off to the east and north from the famous chateau region.
