We are staying in Chateauneuf-du Pape for four nights, doing day trips to other towns. Any recommendations for winery visits, and other non-wine sights?

You can head south to Avignon, where the old chateau of the French popes is a major attraction in a scenic hilltop city. Orange, with an ancient coliseum, is nearer your base.
