Chateau Vaux le Vicomte or Chateau Fontainebleau?

We are picking up a rental care from Orly airport in Paris at 10am to the Burgandy region and would like to arrive by dinner near Beaune. So, we have about 4 hours--can we do both Chateau Vaux le Vicomte or Chateau Fontainebleau?? If not, which should we choose? Thank you!

4 Hours is by far not enough for visiting both. If French history is of interest Fontainebleau, Vaux le Vicomte is without doubt the most beautiful of the two and think the latter for you the best choice.

Some years back when I took my 1st trip to France, I booked a Viator tour which went to both of these. It was a full day tour, so we were at each for 3 or 4 hours. I thoroughly enjoyed them both. Fontainebleau is large and magnificent. Vaux le Vicomte is small and elegant. If I could only go to one and I wasn't going to the Loire during the same trip I would probably choose Vaux le Vicomte for it's beauty and its size.

Here's a fourth vote for Vaux le Viscomte.
You could literally "see", that is, lay eyes upon, both in that short of a time. But you couldn't walk around, inside and out, and get the feel of either of them.
