Chateau of Chantilly

Has anyone visited Chateau of Chantilly? Since I have been to Paris several times, I was thinking of visiting this chateau and it is covered under the museum pass. Did you enjoy the visit? Most importantly, how did you get there from Paris and how long did it take approximately? We are going to be in Paris after Labor Day. Your responses will be most appreciated.
Thank you.

Ann,
While we have never been to Chantilly, friends of ours are on the board (and one is president) of the American Friends of Chantilly. We've been to a few fundraiser events they've hosted here in Nashville, including some of the Chantilly team from France.

Hope to get to Chantilly someday.....it looks lovely in the photos, and our friends usually visit a couple of times a year.

The above link shows the various ways to get there. When I asked them a year ago, they recommended the train from Paris, then a quick, inexpensive taxi ride from the closest train station to Chantilly itself.

Let us know how you like it.

We took the train from Paris then the local bus to the gate. On our way back we just walked (about 15 min) from the gate back to the train station. We really liked the chateau, especially the art and library. We didn't explore the grounds much that day because it was raining. We had some lovely desserts and coffee in the little cafe in order to have the yummy whipped cream. We too had been to Paris many times but hadn't had the time for many day trips. This chateau was just right for a day trip or at least a long afternoon excursion.

I have been there four times now( had family nearby) .

I love it! The Condee Museum inside is amazing, its never crowded, and the grounds are peaceful and of course, the cafe in the garden features Chantilly cream and strawberries. Close by is the Royal Stables, with a Horse Museum, I do not particularly like horses, but found it interesting.

Town is small, and area around it is nice real estate ( ie nice homess$$$$)

Totally worth a visit. Train from Gare St Lazarre. Think its about 14 euros, I bought ahead on SNCF but you can walk up and buy same day. Bus from station to chateau, or taxi, or walk( about 25 minutes)

Train is not long,, sorry can't recall exact timing, maybe 1/2 hour ish!

I liked my visit to Chantilly too and will visit it again. My opinion, but it´s hard to think you will regret. If you have enough time you can combine it with nearby Senlis. I think there is an easy bus connection between the two places.
