We are visiting Colmar in September and plan to visit the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg, but we don't have a car. Has anyone taken the train from Colmar to Sélestat, then the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg shuttle to the castle? Does anyone know how much time I should allow between train arrival at Sélestat and getting on the shuttle? Also where we purchase tickets for the shuttle? We are on a tight schedule and I'm trying to decide which train tickets to purchase in advance. I don't have any idea how big the train station is and how long it will take to for us to get from the train to the shuttle, and also whether to allow time for purchasing shuttle tickets at the train station? I found the timetable for the shuttle, but it seems that there is only either about 5 min or else 45 min between train arrival and shuttle departure even though the shuttle website says the timing of the shuttle is made to coincide with train times from surrounding towns, and there wasn't any information about buying the tickets. Thanks for any information anyone can share!
Karen. I didn't take the shuttle when I visited the castle in 2022. So I can't help you with that.
I booked a small group day tour with L'Alsaciette that took us to Haut Koenigsbourg along with tours in several wine villages, wine tastings, a lovely lunch and more.
Enjoy your stay in Alsace!
The shuttle bus only runs on weekends in September, if that makes any difference to your plans. Departures at 9:25, 10:25 and so on hourly.
Train from Colmar arrives at 9:17, 10:17 and so on.
There will be time to catch the bus, should be on the east side of the tracks.
Here's a contact form to enquire about purchasing shuttle tickets in advance:
