I will be in Paris for three days at the end of February. I'm contemplating a trip to Chateau Chantilly. I've never been. Any advice, tips.

Repeat as necessary.
If you are interested in the horse shows there make sure they are up and running when you choose to go. we went a long time ago so things may have changed, but when we went the estate was closed for lunch. This is not uncommon for sites in France. If you are already there I suspect you can then go to their restaurant for lunch but we could not even enter the estate during the two hour or so block for lunch break.
Check the web site carefully for details, availability of food etc etc.
One of the glories is the grounds which may not be so in February; the chateau is much like every other chateau.
It's pretty easy to get to from the station altho I wasn't sure and took a cab (plus it looked like it was going to rain). On the way back the local shuttle bus had just pulled up and we used that to get back to the station.
I really enjoyed the Chateau. The library was jaw-dropping. Really, I wanted to move in and just make myself at home in that room. The Domaine felt so much more personal and interesting than some of the bigger venues.
Entry is covered by the Museum Pass but it's one of those where you have to go in to the ticket office, show your pass and get an entry ticket. No line to speak of. I went in a September and got there when it opened. We did not have time to see the horse related area.
