I’ll be somewhere in the middle between these two towns and would like to visit one or the other.
Which did you prefer if you have seen both?

I used to live somewhat in the orbit of Bourges ( a bit east of there) and I've been to Chartres. Bourges is a larger town with more to see especially if you live in France, but Chartres has its fabulous cathedral. If I were in the position of visiting one or the other, I would go to Chartres and reserve ahead of time a guided tour of the cathedral.
