Salut à tous! I’d like to stay overnight in Chartres the final day of our tour; however, I’m a bit concerned about getting to Charles de Gaul on time for a 1:20 pm departure. Is this doable? I know there are trains from Chartres to Paris, and from Paris to CDG, but am I making a mistake by doing this when I need to reach CDG by 10:30 am. Thanks!

With the number of trains from Chartres, I am quite sure that you’ll easily be able to take a train to get to the airport by 10:30, barring an unexpected strike. If you’re nervous about it, take a late afternoon train and spend the night in an airport hotel.

Unless you must be in Chartres late that night, I'd take a late train and stay at the airport. We often stay at the Novotel in situations like this. Quiet, clean, relatively inexpensive, included decent buffet breakfast -- and on the CDGval for transport to the terminal. If you do that, I would have dinner in Chartres and head for the airport after dinner.
