Need a place to store luggage near train station for a day trip to Chartres from Paris continuing to Avignon after visit.

Since this train station does not have bag storage, you probably should leave bags in Paris, either at your hotel (depending on location) or at Paris Montparnasse train station, which you'll return through before crossing the city to Gare de Lyon. Allow your self plenty of time to catch a reserved TGV, since most tickets are not refundable or changeable. If your itinerary allows room to visit Chartres on a different day, that would be simpler.

We plan to continue from Chartres to Avignon for the rest of our trip to Provence. Thought there might be a hotel near the station in Chartres where we could pay to leave our bags for a few hours while we're sightseeing. Thanks.

I wanted to do the same thing -- but as Laura noted above, trains to Avignon go from Paris, not Chartres. Do you have an alternative?
