Charging packages of carnets in Paris to credit card

I'm wondering if anyone has recently purchased carnets at a Paris train station? If so, were you able to use a credit card for this purchase, or is it better to use euros for this purchase? Thank you for any information you can give me.

Ticket kiosks accept credit cards (must have a chip) and coins. There will be at least one kiosk accepting bills at every station. If you want 10 tickets T+, select a Booklet which costs 14.90€.

Assuming you mean the RER and Metro, if plans go according to schedule, by mid-June the customer will buy an electronic carnet stored on a card. Navigo Easy , it's called, with a 2 euro initial fee for the card . The price for 10 rides will stay the same. The old cardboard tickets will be good until 2020.

A friend with whom we were at a metro station just a couple of days ago bought a carnet with her American credit card; no problems. She had cash, but the machine wouldn't take any bills over 20 euros.

The machine has a setting for english and it makes is simple. It will ask if you want passes or individual tickets. You select tickets. Then it will ask if you want single or groups of ten (the word carnet or booklet doesn't appear in the English if I remember correctly). If you pick. 10 then it will let you opt for one or two groups of ten.

You put the credit card in and it asks for your PIN; since the US chip and pin cards don't have PINs that are recognized in this system, you just ignore this and the transaction goes through. Without a PIN type card there is a Euro limit but it is well over 14.90. We jsut re-charged our cards for 22.80 for this week; last year I could not charge the card up with a monthly pass which costs 75 Euro and so had to take my credit card to the information clerk who was able to do it. they no longer handle sales or money, but can do a credit card transaction like this when necessary.

If you happen to be purchasing at a manned window, I used a US CC for a couple of carnets just last month. Very easy, had to sign the receipt. Apologized to the man in the window who just smiled and shrugged.

I have found at my particular station that the line for the machines is often long and filled with people who appear to be locals going to work so I just step to the window (rarely more than 1 ahead of me) to not delay those who are not on vacation.
