Chamonix vs. Samoens/Morillon

We will be in Annecy for a few days in mid-June. We would like to do a day trip to hike in the Alps. A friend who lives in Geneva has suggested that we avoid Chamonix since it is so touristy. She recommends Samoens/Morillon or Megeve. But, the hikes on the south side of the Chamonix Valley look so beautiful (e.g. from the La Flegere gondola).

Does anyone have recommendations for easy-ish (traveling with 12 and 16 year old boys) day hikes in the French Alps area -- green meadows, wildflowers, possible lakes, surrounded by snow-capped peaks?

Thank you!

We hike quite a bit in this area and the hike to Lac Blanc from La Flegere is one of my favorite hikes. The views from the lake are some of the best I've seen in the Alps - across the valley to the Mont Blanc massif and several of the large glaciers. The lake itself is very pretty and having lunch on the deck of the refuge there is beyond amazing.
