I am taking a Rick Steves Myway tour in the Alps that ends in Chamonix in beginning of August. After the tour, I wish to spend 18 more days in France. I thought I'd like to visit Dordogne (5 days), Loire (5 days), Normandy (3 days) and Paris (5 days). To get from Chamonix to the Dordogne region, I can take the bus to Geneva and then: take the train (10 hr 42 min), fly Easyjet (1hr 15 min), or drive (6 hr 54min). I could take a sleeper train. I am not sure how reliable flights with EasyJet are. I have driven before in Provence. Are the roads difficult from Chamonix to Toulouse? I was thinking of renting a car in Toulouse and returning it in Caen. Thanks for your advice.
I fly EasyJet frequently out of Geneva and find them to be very reliable. There are shuttles from Chamonix to Geneva. I have not taken them before, but others who post here have.
There is no sleeper train in that direction. I agree with flying EasyJet.
Thank you both! Think I will try EasyJet! If the flight is canceled, I can rent a car. Think I will fly into Toulouse, rent a car, and spend the first night in Albi. From there, I will stay 4 nights in Beynac. I am thinking of getting Travelguard car insurance.
