Chamonix to Milan

I need to get from Chamonix to the nearest town in Italy where I can rent a car, so I can avoid the excessive drop off fee when I return the car to Venice.

Anyone have experience with this, or any suggestions?

Guess you'll have to get a bus through the Mont Blanc Tunnel to Aosta.
