We will be in the Chamonix and would like to experience Aiguille du Midi if the weather cooperates.
Since we are on a 35 day trip to France, we don’t want to bring a winter coat to use for one day. Is there anywhere in town to rent a coat to do the lift? If not, would you still recommend it with our spring jacket?

Try Intersport. They have a number of shops in that area. And it depends on the weather, a sweater and light jacket layered may work but not if it’s cold.

when we visited the Aiguielle du Midi we did it as a side day trip from Annecy. We didn't have warm coats so I just layered under a windbreaker. I always carry silk long johns, so wore those, jeans and a turtleneck and a polartek cardigan i.e. everything I had that was warm and under the windbreaker it was fine. We were there on a sunny day in May. It was crisp but we were fine with our layers.

We got lunch at the terrace where you change cable cars and as you can see my husband was comfortable in shirt sleeves there in the sun. he wore a t-shirt, a button down and then a wool sweater under his heavy windbreaker. All stuff we carry on any fall or spring trip.
