Hello, we are enjoying a week in Les Houches/Chamonix and had hoped to visit Italy via the Panoramic Mont Blanc cable car. We were told it might reopen soon, but assuming it doesn't, is it worth driving to Courmayeur? We have a car and wanted to go to Italy, but don't want to waste precious time if it's really not worth it to drive. Also, it looks like rain and thunderstorms are coming, any thoughts on how to spend those days? Thank you for any help you can provide!!

If you go to Italy, you will see mountains. If you stay in France, you will see mountains. If you have to go to Italy through the tunnel, you won't see anything.
Bad Weather: Get a Michelin Green Guide to the French Alps or use their web site (more time consuming) to find nearby towns and buildings to see.
