Hello -I am planning a trip to Chamonix in mid January with my husband. We are looking at flying into Geneva and spending 7 /8 days in Chamonix after an overnight in Geneva. He will be focused on skiing (via Ikon pass) I wanted to add a few days in another “charming” town while we are so far from home. We will be relying on public transportation. I’m a big fan of RS however the books etc are very summer focused. I would appreciate any winter recommendations in that region. Thank you in advance!
I assume you've researched transportation options from Geneva to Chamonix?
You may find these helpful.....
I haven't checked to see whether any maintenance will be done on the lifts at that time of year, but if you're planning a trip to the Aguille du Midi, you could be affected by the altitude as it's at 12,000 feet+. If either of you has had problems with higher elevations, be sure to check with your physician.
Annecy ? still lovely in the winter
Lyon?
Thank you for the helpful links and destination ideas. Annecy looks like a nice option and an easy bus trip. Much appreciated!
