Chamonix hotel recommendations

I will be going to Chamonix the end of May. Looking for hotel recommendations for a good location within walking distance of city center, prefer air conditioning in rooms, clean and updated. Doesn’t need to be fancy or have a restaurant onsite.

Look up Hotel de la Vallee Blanche. Its on the quieter eastern side of the river, near the Aiguille du Midi cable car station. We liked it because it was right (I mean RIGHT) on the river - look out your window and the river rushes by 4 feet away.
