Chambéry Or Aix-Les-Bains?

Hi, I am trying to decide between these two towns for 3 days first week in May. We will have a car. I have already been to Annecy in the past and spent 4 days there, so want another cute place from which to do day trips. Thought too to maybe try Grenoble, but I keep reading about now grey the city is…like dismal. Thoughts/suggestions would be helpful.

Definitely Aix Les Bains, which still has some 19th century spa town charm (only a bit left, but still). Chambéry has a cute city center but is not so great otherwise.

Try to make it to Mont Revard for the views, and to visit the Royal Abbey of Hautecombe- you can only visit a small part but the views are good over there.

I spent a day in Chambery and I thought it was so cute and charming - so if Aix-Les-Bains is even better (I haven’t been), I think you’re in for a treat!

Bonjour,

Machine translating @jdiotte's post above. Yvoire is a good suggestion if you haven't chosen yet.

Hi,
If I may, another option would be to visit the VERY pretty village of Yvoire on Lake Geneva. Yvoire is part of one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France and is only 1 hour north of Annecy. And while you are there, a boat trip would show you beautiful corners of the village. You wouldn't regret it!
