Chablis Region for a day trip from Paris - thoughts

Looking to do a day trip from Paris and thought the Chablis region might be a good option. What do you think?

Car or train? It's 2.5 hours from Paris by car. It's 2 to Auxerre the closest train station to Chablis. You could rent a car in Auxerre and drive the 14k to Chablis, or rent at Orly and drive down. We've rented in various Paris locations and know the freeways around Paris, but still think renting at Orly sets you on the road south more quickly. It's a nice village with a lot of shopping, restaurants, and miles and miles of vineyards.

I've driven to my in-laws' village in that region for the day for specific events, and when staying near Chablis during summers, I'd go to Paris for the day. In both directions the trips were wonderful changes of scenery.

Chablis is a little far for a day trip, although it could be done. It's a lovely spot to go spend a weekend.
