My wife and I (in the grandparent set but ambulatory and in good health) have a stop-over at CDG and need to get from Terminal 2A where our American Airlines plane land and over to Terminal 3 where our Niki flight to Vienna leaves. We have 2 hours and 10 minutes (from arrival to departure) to accomplish this feat and that worries us (even though American booked us that way). My question is how do we do it? Is there an airport shuttle? Do we rely on taxis? Any help would be appreciated to help us understand what we may face and how fast we may have to run.
Use the Val shuttle. No two stops are more than ten minutes apart.
If you setup your trip through a travel agent, see if they can arrange for transport for you & DW to the other terminal.
Check with American Airlines to see if they can help at the CDG airport in some way. You should have plenty of time to make it to the next terminal.
Au Revoir!
We used the airport train to get from our arrival in terminal 3 to our hotel shuttle in terminal 2. It was easy and quick. Mom (age 86) uses a wheelchair within the airport so we just told the chair driver what we wanted and she took us to the train station.
VAL = airport train
Actually, it is called the CDGVAL, and all the signs will say "CDGVAL, Airport Shuttle." If you've never been to Charles de Gaulle before, it's a good idea to look at some websites that explain how to navigate this confusing airport. I like Paris By Train, although it focuses on getting into Paris from the airport--not how to transfer between terminals. Still, it will give you an idea of the layout with lots of good visuals. I've made several tight transfers at CDG. Here's one tip that worked for me. If you are running late, when you get to passport control, show them the ticket for your connecting flight and ask to use the First Class/Business Class line. The agent at the start of the line has always let me through, provided the connection time is short and I have proof I'm connecting. Also, if you just take carry-on, you won't have to wait for your luggage. However, two hours should be sufficient even if you checked your bags--as long as your flight is on time. Have a great trip!
