Centre Pompidou in Paris

hello:

We are staying like 5 minutes from the Pompidou center and I thought on arrival we could walk over there before heading down to the river. Someone on here suggested that my boys might think it's cool to ride the escalator - do you need a ticket to go up? Or does anyone know how that works?

Thanks!

No, you don't need a ticket to go up the escalator. There is a very nice view of Paris at the top of the escalator, from the roof. If you need refreshment, there is an Amorino gelato shop directly across from the entrance to the museum. IMO it is the best ice cream in Paris and they have shops all over. Also generous scoops, or "boules" in French. There is some great people watching as well as street performers around the Pompidou. I have stayed in that neighborhood twice and liked it. Very easy to get around whether on foot or by bus or metro. Have a great trip.

The Museum Pass includes the permanent collection but not the temporary exhibits.

Two years ago had my then 11 yr. old granddaughter at the Pompidou and she loved it!

Street performers were also a big hit.
