Central location in Provence for day trips

Traveling April 2023 after Easter. Looking for a hotel in city center. Any recs for Arles, Aix or St. Remy?

We will be there for 4 nights and have a car.

Thanks.

If you have a car, it will make little difference, other than Aix-en-Provence is somewhat east of most of the commonly visited venues in Provence. I would prefer either Arles or St Remy or actually Gordes (which is where we typically stay).

If you do not have a car, stay in Avignon, the transportation hub of the region.

"Central" location makes me think of Avignon but I think Arles or St. Remy would would too.

Hello from Wisconsin,
I really fell in love with St. Remy. A beautifully laid out main district. A truly impressive weekly farmer's market. We found it easy to get around Provence from there. Part of my love was the market just dominated what ever else St. Remy has going on. I would plop myself down in a nice place to sleep in St. Remy and make a food reservation for each night. I planned to stay there. Out for the day, in for the night. How lovely.

St. Remy and Gordes are wonderful Provence locations to use with a car…and both have markets on Tuesday and Wednesday that are great. Aix has an amazing Sunday market but the town was a little large for our liking. There is a lovely old estate outside of St. Remy, run by a family, that is gorgeous….if you do not stay there at least enjoy a meal there……Chateau des Alpilles.
