Cell phone/mobile phone Paris

Any recommendations to get sim card or esim card for iphone when visiting Paris for one week as it will be expensive to use USA cell phone carrier in Paris? With data plan either for one iphone or for whole family.

Can one get at CDG before going to Paris?

Thanks

Verizon charges $10US/day and it's well worth it for the ease of use and simplicity. Plus you keep your number for calls and texts.
AT&T is similar.

The standard suggestion is to use Whatsapp instead of your phone's plan. Otherwise buy the SIM and/or a burner phone on Amazon before arriving, or go to a FNAC store upon arrival and browse.

Which carrier do you use?
T-Mobile is even cheaper than the 2 mentioned above, and works well for travel in Europe.

Many TMobile plans come with international. The calls are about 25 cents a minute and there is enough free data to get you by if you use it sparingly or it's I think $5 a day or $30 for 10 days or $50 a moth to upgrade it. Texts are free. Works perfect in every country I have ever visited.

Just make sure you understand how the SIM card works, and that depending on how you’re using your phone could be more hassle than saving the $5-10/day for US carrier to access all your usual data/services.

When researching I found the fee was well worth it to keep my #

I think that $10US/day for phone service is outrageous, but if it is that important for others to be able to reach you without their being forced to dial a different phone number, it is a solution. I rather dislike the potential of my phone ringing in the middle of the night in France just because a US telemarketer thinks that I am likely home at the diner table.

Many people now use VoIP, be it Signal, Telegram, Whatsapp, google talk, there are many options. These, along with real time mapping, email usage, and informational research require data. The last time I came through CDG terminal 1, Orange had a booth selling SIMs and configuring phones right at the Customs exit. I have not seen them at terminal 2 customs, but there are many places to purchase a SIM at CDG, any of the many Relay stores for example.

T-Mobile's customers now have upgraded data services while traveling, offering them 4G speeds at no additional cost. All they need worry about are the pesky calls in the night.

Tocard, most folks these days need or want to be reached 24\7 so you are a rara avis.

A friend of my wife's called us at midnight Paris time and just chatted away even after we gently mentioned the local time.

It's easy enough to set your cell notifications so as not to get them overnight.
I keep my phone on the same settings I use at home. No text messages between 10pm and 7am. Same with phone calls, though I have my sister and son in a category that lets their phone calls through at any time of day/night. Problem solved.
