Celiac Dietary Restrictions

Can those of with celiac disease be accommodated on the tours or in restaurants in Paris? We're contemplating visiting Paris either with one of the tours offered or on our own. I've seen a number of gluten-free boulangeries but wonder what's available when part of the tour. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I'm vegan and not celiac. My experience is that the guides can usually get me a vegan option and the GF people I've traveled with have done OK with group tours as well.

For someone that is celiac and needing a completely GF kitchen, I don't think this can be guaranteed. If someone can manage with GF and tolerate possible exposure to gluten products in the kitchen then I think it would work.

As far as restaurants in France, menus are often marked with GF options. I found in October there were fewer vegan options as some restaurants had compressed their menus quite a bit over the pandemic. I could still usually find something. I did a Road Scholar tour in October in SW France and the guide was able to get me vegan options everywhere.

I have a statement printed out in French saying I am vegan and I'd recommend the GF person do the same. Just show it to the waiter when you are given the menu and they will help you. I have mine taped to a 3x5 card in case they need to take it back to the kitchen. I've not had a waiter do that in France but I have had one in Italy take it back to the chef, then come back and point out what would work for me.
