CDG to Rouen by train

Hello,
I’m arriving CDG approx. 1100 on 8Sept. I’m planning to visit Rouen and area for a couple of days and then meet my husband in Paris.

If I understand correctly, I take a taxi from CDG to Gare Saint-lazare. Since timing is uncertain, I’m planning to purchase the ticket through the SNCF app when I arrive. Is that a good strategy?

I see a few hotel recommendations for Rouen in the RS guidebook, (Hotel Mercure and Hotel le Cardinal). Any others that are good and quiet for solo female? Maybe a BnB? Budget $300/night
Thank you!

$300 is a huge budget for Rouen. It could get you a room at the 5* Hotel de Bourgtheroulde, which is in a stunning building and has an incredible indoor pool. Treated myself to a stay there a few years ago, felt it was worth it, so if you are looking for a treat (could be nice after the flight), you could have a look.

As for the ticket: yes, your plan is the right one in my opinion. If the app does not work out for you somehow, you can also buy on machines at the station.

Thank you balso. I'm also booking hotels for Paris and Rome and didn't make the adjustment.
Appreciate the suggestion.

Jules, I did exactly that earlier this month. The only exception is that I booked the train to Rouen as The advance ticket price was only nine euros each. Our plane arrived about 11:30 and the tickets are purchased were for about 2:30 p.m. I figured at that price if I missed the train €18 was not such a huge loss. We stayed at Vieux Carre (RS recommended) for about €83 per night. Nothing fancy but perfectly adequate. Beautiful courtyard. In one you might try Pascaline restaurant. Excellent food, lovely restaurant, not expensive. Have a great trip.
