CDG to Paris train for the evening

My husband and I will be arriving at CDG on a Saturday midday after touring Normandy, the Loire valley and Burgundy via car in mid October. Our flight to Heathrow leaves at 7:30 Sunday morning. My thought was to drop the rental car off (Hertz) and shuttle back to the Novotel hotel- maybe have to shuttle to airport - then to Novotel (?) , drop luggage off and then take the train into Paris. Does this sound reasonable and if so, what stop would be best for having dinner and walk around for a bit before heading back - hopefully by 10:00 or 11:00. We have visited Paris once before for about 5 days, so are somewhat familiar. Do we buy a round trip ticket for the train? Any restaurant recommendations - good food/wine, not fancy. Since it will be a Saturday eve, I'd like to make reservations. Any input will help, thanks.

Yes take the RER B and get off at St Michel-Notre Dame. Lots of nice walks there. Just buy 4 tickets for 10.30 EUR each. 2 for the way in a 2 for the ride back.

We have done this when returning from the countryside with a flight the next day. You don't want to be eating at the airport but it sure is nice to be there for a morning flight. Try to get in reasonably early and you will plenty of time for an evening stroll, an afternoon activity and nice dinner.

Restaurant rec: Les Fous de L'ile (The Island Oven) at 33 Rue des Deux Ponts on Ile St Louis. Has 30 EUR prix fixe dinner (starter, main course, dessert) and 20 EUR 1/2 liter carafes of house wine. It was listed in the Michelin guide as "good value dining".

Rue des Deux Ponts is the main north-south street on the island with a bridge at either end, as the name implies. You can walk to the island from the back of Notre Dame Cathedral on a pedestrian bridge. Open every day until midnight.
