We are arriving at CDG at 8:35am on July 5. We understand there will be a transit strike. We had planned to take the RER into Paris. Any insight and / or suggestions will be appreciated.
rer will still run , but much less frequently and will be packed, not good if you are elderly, have children, or big luggage.
take a taxi from taxi stand( no freelancers who approach you) fare is set price now, 50 to right bank.. 55 to left bank.. where are you staying.
Also.. depending on where you are staying there are some buses..
Thanks for the quick response! We are staying in an Apt (VRBO) on the Seine River (17, Quai Saint Michel)...across from Notre Dame. I believe this is the west bank. It sounds like a cab is the best option. Should this be arranged ahead of time?
No - just follow the overhead signs leading to the TAXI stand and wait your turn.
Don't go with anyone who approaches you on foot, they aren't legitimate drivers.
The flat fees are good for 4 passengers and their luggage.
Hand the driver the complete printed address of where you're staying, including the Postal Code.
If you need to pay by credit card (no AX accepted), ask before you get in the taxi.
When you're ready to return to the airport, you should reserve a taxi a day in advance.
G7 Taxis is a very reputable company - you can reserve online or by phone with English-speaking operators. The flat fee still applies, but you'll pay 7 EU for the convenience of having a taxi arrive on time. Be waiting on the sidewalk about 5 mins before pickup time.
