Is the metro the fastest way from CDG airport to Montparnese.

Probably yes, which is the RER to Denfert Rochereau, then the No 6 line to Gare Montparnasse. Do not take the No 4 line as its station is a long way from the actual train station.
Having said that, depends on time of day, in that rush hour will delay taxi or bus. Also make sure the RER is operating on your arrival day. Seems to be some construction work that causes shutdowns.

Also, if you have a lot of luggage, you may find the stairways at Denfert Rochereau difficult to maneuver. In that case, go with a taxi at 58 EUR fixed price.
