CDG to Epernay to Bordeaux

We will be flying into Paris then immediately traveling to Epernay. From what I can tell we will need to take the train from the airport to the Gare D'el Est station, transfer to another train to Reims then to another train to Epernay. Is there a better way to get there? After 3/4 nights in Epernay we plan to travel to Bordeaux. Is there another option of getting there other than going back through Paris?

Thanks!

No in both cases.

And really 4 hours from Epernay to Bordeaux is a miracle!

We frequently travel Est to Epernay and not all trains require a change in Reims. There are some trains directly to Epernay. It would depend on the times you wanted to travel.

Thank you both for your replies. It's good to know that if we plan accordingly it's possible to get a direct train to Epernay from the Paris station.

As to traveling to Bordeaux from Epernay, it never crossed my mind that we could do it in four hours. From what I can tell, going through Paris we would be lucky to do it in six hours. Just wanted to be sure I hadn't missed another option.

For the leg from Epernay to Bordeaux, you will have to travel from gare de l'Est to gare Montparnasse in central Paris. It's a direct link on Metro Line 4, but it would be worth getting the Metro tickets during your previous journey through Paris to save time.
