CDG to Beaune train - May 28

We arrive at around 8am at CDG and looking for advice on fastest/direct train routes to Beaune.

Can we take the TGV to Le Creusot and rent a car/drive to Beaune or does it make more sense to take train from CDG to Paris and transfer to train to Beaune?

Thanks in advance for everyone's advice! Keep on traveling!

I see that the TGV schedule to Le Creusot TGV station is attractive, departing Paris Lyon station at 11:53, 13:53, 17:53, and 19:58. You're traveling on a Sunday. Have you found rental car pick-up available there?

TGVs generally encourage advance booking, but I would not book ahead for these, in case a delay makes you miss a train, and since the discounts currently for sale in 2nd class are only 9-18 euros per person.

Another option is the TER train that runs direct from Paris Bercy station (near Paris Lyon station) to Beaune at 15:27 or 17:22. These trains don't require seat assignments and don't offer advance-purchase discounts. And you wouldn't have to pick up a car until a day or two later.

TGVs departing from CDG TGV station in Terminal 2 don't stop in this region; they run nonstop to the city of Lyon.

Hi Laura, thanks for the information and it's too bad the TGV doesn't stop in Le Creusot from CDG! Fortunately, we haven't made rental car reservations yet and are thinking about driving from CDG since it's relatively inexpensive for the week and wouldn't have to mess with transferring trains in Paris.

Thanks again and keep on traveling!

P.s., has Rick/team ever thought of partnering with Google Maps and digitizing his Back Door self-guided tour routes? :-)

The rental car at least should wait for your arrival, unlike a train. I hope that you're a person who can get some sleep on airplanes!

Your map suggestion sounds a little fancy for us, but I won't say "never."
