I've read about the fixed rates for taxis from CDG airport into Paris, but wonder if there is also a fixed rate for those of us with oversize luggage? We are 2 people who will arrive with 2 duffle bags and 2 boxed bicycles, which will require a larger vehicle than a typical taxi. I've also considered "LeBusDirect" (formerly the AirFrance bus), and they have responded to my email about the boxes saying they will accept them as long as there is sufficient space. Their Gare de Lyon stop puts us very close to our hotel, but a taxi would put us right at the hotel door, which would be easier.
There should be no extra charge for the larger taxi but an extra euro for each oversized item of luggage.
I may be wrong, but the flat rate (to/from the airport) should apply as long as your luggage fits in the taxi
Having said this, you may need a van taxi which will provide enough room for your oversized luggage.
Once you arrive at CDG, go out to the taxi queue & wait for a van taxi.
You may want to book a taxi in advance if you will be returning to CDG.
Here is the taxi's website: https://www.g7.fr/en
Enjoy your bicycling trip!
Just to make sure you get where you are going with your bikes try Tim at taxi-Paris.net. I have used them several times and my brother who lives in Paris uses him as well.
Thanks for the replies! Our boxes will be approximately 8.5 x 28.5 x 52 inches - two probably won't fit in a regular taxi, but we're going to go with the taxi queue and wait for a taxi van after reading the responses. We won't be returning from Paris... our cycle trip is about 750 miles via the Champagne region, Meuse River Valley, Belgium and the Netherlands. We'll fly home from Amsterdam, taking the cycle route to the airport.
I've bought some bulky items in boxes at home improvement stores in Paris, and everything fit inside a minivan taxi. There was no extra charge for luggage, but I did give the driver a small tip, since he was so nice about getting everything carefully arranged inside - including me.
