CDG taxi and credit cards?

We are arriving in Paris next Sunday morning at CDG and will be taking a taxi to our hotel in the 7th arr. Does anyone have any recent experience in using an American chip and signature card in Paris taxis? Are the taxis able to process these or will we need to have sufficient euros to pay cash?

Thanks for any useful info on this !

Taxis that take credit cards can process US chip and signature cards. I paid taxis by credit card last month. However, not all taxis take credit cards so be sure to tell the taxi dispatcher that you will use a credit card to pay.

I would do two things here, 1st,..have enough cash to cover the ride, (for that just in case), 2nd ..ask the driver before getting in if he accepts the US credit card. What if the driver suddenly changes his mind at the end of the ride and says that his credit card "apparatus" is not working, ie, your card isn't going through. You don't know whether that's the truth or not, and you're certainly not going to argue...pointless. I wouldn't since my French is too modest, certainly not effective. In German, no problem. Pay him the cash and get out. The one time I took a taxi from the hotel to CDG, I assumed the driver would accept a credit card, at paying time I was told it's not working, (very convenient or the truth ?), so I got out the 40 Euro and left.

As Fred says, never assume a taxi (or restaurant or anywhere) takes plastic without asking. And always have enough cash with you just in case.
It is easy enough to get cash at a cash machine (ATM) in the airport, and then you are covered for the first day or two.

We arrived in CDG Terminal 1 yesterday. The ATMs at the arrival level weren't functioning, Staff at the TI desk told me that I could find a taxi driver who would accept CC's by asking the 'starter'. He directed be to a cab who took them.

No problems with the ride downtown, although traffic was very heavy (according to the driver, it was due to the rain).

70 Euro to our apartment in the 7th eme.

Thanks to all for your helpful replies ! We are planning to get euros when we arrive at CDG anyway but now will get a little extra just in case the taxi can't or won't take a credit card.
