We will be arriving at CDG at 6:30 am on Saturday November 28 this year. How long should we expect it to take to clear passport control, pick up our checked luggage and arrive at the CDG train platform for a CDG to Strasbourg train?
Also, depending on the answer to the above question we want to choose a 11:22am - 1:56 pm train through to Colmar with one connection priced today at €143.70, or 11:58 am - 3:22 pm at €98,70 with two connection or the earliest 9:01 am- 11:45 am at €131.50. I am concerned about the short time allowance between CDG arrival and train departure time of 9:01 am.
Finally, will these prices go lower if we wait a little longer? Today we are about 74 days advance purchase.
Thanks for any help !
There is no way to know in advance how long immigration will take. It has always been that way at CDG, even before EES. I have waited over an hour, other times there is no wait at all. Between scheduled aircraft arrival and eventual train departure, I would allow no less than 3 hours. Even if there is no delay at immigration, a late arriving aircraft can mean your missing a tightly scheduled train.
Book train tickets are soon as you can. Prices only go up as your departure date approaches.

+1 for Tocard's response. Exactly.
Yes to three hours for reasons stated.
in the last two years and 4 arrivals our times have ranged from 20 minutes to two hours. One is a good guess -- but it varies. luggage can be very slow. A couple of years ago the system malfunctioned and captured luggage of a dozen people in some sort of underground conveyor. When we said our luggage had not appears, they said 'the computer said it was loaded on the belts so someone must have stolen it'. we were right there when the bags began emerging and so insisted that was not possible. Eventually (it is France) someone listened and followed up and they discovered about 20 bags jammed up underground and we got our bags, but it added about 90 minutes.
3 hours is a good guess and then you will be sitting around -- but you do have a little cushion with 3 hours (and no guarantees)
One other thing to factor in is the weather. Have a foggy recollection that in your part of the country it is not always 'flight friendly' at that time of the year.
You may want to consider the 'what if the flight is late' situation.
As for prices, perhaps look at a ticket for tomorrow to get some idea of what the difference is, and place you 'bets' accordingly..
Thanks to all. Yes, I knew the 9:01 am train would be risky time wise and I believe we will select the 11:22 one-connection train.
Also, should our trip whole trip need to be canceled, am I correct interpreting the ticket conditions to allow free cancellation with full refund up to 7 days before departure date?
“ Ticket may be exchanged (with adjustment to the current fare) or refunded free of charge up to D-7.”

Yes, you've interpreted that correctly! (I have successfully refunded such tickets before.)
Keep in mind that SNCF of course charges and refunds in euros, so if the exchange rate has moved since you purchased the ticket, you may end up with a bit more or less in USD than what you originally paid.
Great! Thanks Aaron.
Started planning this trip 6 months ago and forgot that we both would buy a Carte Avantage Senior TGV card at €49 each which pays for itself with just this trip. We also will travel Colmar to Strasbourg, Colmar to Obernai and Obernai to Paris Est so savings are really there . May still wait to buy train tickets as prices seem to fluctuate with fares even less not as far out date wise.
