CDG-Paris-Fontainebleau-CDG 1 day

We are arriving at Charles De Gaulle at about 8 am - we need to be in Fontainebleau by noon for a concert at 1:00. Then back to CDG for a 10pm flight. We would like to see something in Paris either before or after. Do you think this is possible? And what is the best transportation options for getting there and back in such a short amount of time?

My son is performing in London and Paris - we were planning on seeing him in London, but they changed the date of the London concert, so miss it by 1 hour! Our next chance at seeing him is in Fontainebleau, but had already booked a side trip to Dublin. That is why we have the crazy time crunch! Thanks for any advice!

Where are you arriving from? If you need to go through passport control and/or have checked luggage, it will be very challenging.
Otherwise:
- Taxi would cost in the region of €150, and would take about 1.30 hours on a weekday, 1.10 on a weekend.
- Public transportation takes a little under 2 hours with trains every half hour to Fontainebleau from Gare de Lyon. Just about feasible if you have been to Paris before, too tight otherwise.
Bottom line: I would bite the taxi bullet.

Do not stop in Paris on the way back either, rather, visit the impressive Fontainebleau castle and its garden.

Thanks! We'll be coming from London, so we will have to go through customs - no checked luggage. I was wondering if it was just going to be too tight to fit anything in. Looking forward to Fontainebleau - it looks beautiful!

This makes me tired just reading about it. It’s already going to take a lot of energy to get from CDG to Fontainebleau and back (and attend a concert!) in one day. I suppose you could possibly fit in a Paris stop too, to say you’ve done it, but it sounds positively overwhelming to me (and I speak the language so could get help on the spot if any obstacles popped up during the day as they sometimes do).

It’s very cool that you will get to see your son perform.
