CDG Hilton review

We tend to stay at an airport hotel on the last night of our trip, esp. when the flight is going to be early. The worst feeling in the world is wishing the taxi faster through traffic to that final airport. The Hilton is one of the older open-atrium styles (shaped like a big glass triangle), based on what we saw in the lobby all the flight crews stay there. It's a 2 minute walk to the RER/bus station and the CDGVAL shuttle to your terminal, the rooms are fully soundproofed and the lobby restaurant is somewhat pricey but the food is good. Next morning you won't be able to do justice to the breakfast buffet. Only drawback, as many pricier name brand hotels do, if you want internet in the room it's some ridiculous price.

Worth considering.

All the above is true of the much cheaper Ibis, though I'm sure the rooms aren't as nice. Perfectly adequate though and equally convenient. I couldn't agree more about airport hotels before morning flights.

There's also a Sheraton somewhere, that was my first reservation but shifted over to Hilton to get those membership points.

phred,

The Paris Airport Sheraton is built right into Terminal 2. According to their website, they also offer Wi-Fi at an extremely ridiculous price of €19-39 PER DAY. I imagine the rooms aren't cheap so I don't see any reason it couldn't be included, but I suppose one must pay for the convenience of staying right in the airport. I suspect that most of their guests are business travellers with an expense account, so they don't mind paying ridiculous prices.

There is some odd reverse logic going on with wifi these days. The "discount" chains have no problem offering it for free, the "premium" chains play games like free in lobby or business center but charge in the room. I have to think that this is bound to change in the next year.

Yes I've noticed exactly this -- the more expensive the hotel, the more you pay!! It's just upside down.

For many 'full-service hotels' it is free if you are at a certain level in their loyalty programme - Marriott is to extend this to all members from 15 January, although you have to book through them.
